Modding the HK 416 tacamo kit to fit differnt barrels???

well guys i just recently (at ION) bought the new Tippmann straightline barrel. (ill post a review about it later) but. when i got it, i couldnt get it to fit in the tacamo kit!!!!

so luckily i had my mp5 with me at ION and i just used that

but in order to get that to fit, i had to take the mp5 shroud off. and put the barrel through backwards. like screw the fin in. then the barrel into the fin. while the foregrip was still on the barrel (just not attached to the x7)

hopefully all you guys understand what i am saying. but my point is. is that is is a 16 inch barrel, and i dont want a 16 inch barrel on my mp5 setup.

i bought it for the hk416 setup. so my final question is. has anyone bought any other barrels and used them on the hk 416 kit? and how did u get them to fit? any information would be helpful. thanks!

You will have to open the hole up abit. The tacamo barrel kit only holds 7/8" barrels. the new straightline is 1" so get out your dremel and start sanding.

from what i understand the front of the Straightline can unscrew. So without the grip on the X7. Screw the barrel on, then unscrew the muzzle break, then put the grip on. Attach the muzzle break. that may work for ya.

It will take a long time! Only other thing is find a machine shop that will drill it out.

dremel dremel dremel dremel

i used the rotary tool to shave the inside of the holes on each end of the shroud to make it fit.

I even used a cheap Dremel tool from walmart to do it and it turned out fine.

It does not take long to do so, keep it straight and start making a circular motion inside each gap. Then buff it out to smooth it out so it wont scrape your barrel. Took only 20 min to fit a Lapco big shot on it.

Re: Modding the HK 416 tacamo kit to fit differnt barrels???

I don't know about that new tippmann barrel.. however.. its really just a matter of sanding the inner gap... then try to slide the barrel inside.. if it fits then obviously your done.. if it doesn't... keep it up. I used this method, for obvious simplicity, but also to be very accurate.. You dont want to make the gap too large otherwise you run the risk of damaging your barrel, due to the wear and tear of the in-game.
