Exclamation Save Phace and SAFETY

So I was training this weekend with the save phace mask pictured above. It was no different than the other save phace mask I owned and I had shown it to Paintball players and loaned it out too. The one pictured I bought recently at Cabela's on discount, 50% off, and was ever so excited to use it.

Well as we were training yesterday, I got into a firefight and per our training rules, double taps to the head is the only thing that counts. Well my buddy shoots at me and the first round hit the lens of the mask, and a split second later, I had no lens on my face. Luckily he didn't fire a second one or I would have lost an eye. I called out blind man, covered my eyes and fell to the ground. Luckily the situation ended without incident.

So I emailed save phace late sunday night explaining the situation....

I recieved a phone call from Will at Save Phace today who was very concerned about my email. He worked with me to determine the mask I had and it was not a paintball mask but a sport utility mask (NOT FOR PAINTBALL). I was amazed, all of the save phace masks I have seen have looked the same but Will took the time to help me get it right.

IF YOUR SAVE PHACE MASK HAS THE COMPANY LOGO ON TOP AND DOES NOT HAVE 4 SCREWS SECURING THE LENS TO IT, IT IS NOT A PAINTBALL MASK!!!!!

If in doubt I would call or email the nice folks at Save Phace to see if yours is for paintball use, I had no idea they made masks for other uses, and I know for a fact that folks I know have been using the wrong ones.

Thank You Save Phace for taking the time to call and correct the problem with me today!

I have seen Save Phace masks for welding and cutting as well as for use as safety goggles/shield. They make masks for many applications. Glad your ok!

I have this mask and it doesn't have 4 screws to secure it. Just 2 clips and then hook the strap to it. That is so strange. I'll have to contact them.

Re: Save Phace and SAFETY

Yeh I dont think mine has the 4 screws either but I'm pretty sure its for paintball. Did the lens break or did it just pop out cuz of the impact

I am just repeating what Will told me about the screws, I am buying a replacement mask and will do a review on it. Looking at the one you linked too that should be a paintball mask, check and see if it has the save phace logo on the front, and I am also looking at pictures and noticing the paintball ones have vent holes around the mouth, also something to note.

Like I said, it doesn't hurt to check with the manufactuer, I had no idea they made anything but paintball masks.

The lens just popped clean out, I saw a paintball splat...and then it was gone, looked down and it was on the ground...

I guess thats one way to deal with fogging issues....

I would check it out if you have any doubt. Been doing this for 3 years solid and have owned one for sometime, the wrong one, even got it from a paintballer who had used it. I had shown this thing to folks, not once did anyone say, that isnt a paintball mask.

Re: Save Phace and SAFETY

well truthfully i dont believe its anyones fault because on the website the sell the SUM masks, the TACTICAL masks and then the EXTREME FACE PROTECTORS masks, and like you said, you bought the Sports Utility Mask (SUM) and, the only line you should buy for paintball is the Tactical line of masks, it wasn't your fault, Cabela's Fault neither Save Phace's fault because it seems like you didn't know that It wasn't a tactical mask, probably no one at Cabela's could of know that was a SUM and/or knew what it was for, but thank god you just got lucky on the field lol

Re: Save Phace and SAFETY

i see them on cabelas for $60. it doesn't stipulate on there that they're for paintball. however, it doesn't say they're NOT for paintball either.
