So a french canadian who takes pictures and plays paintball...yah!

OI! Crown Royal can make life interesting...it made me wake up with a hang over the next morning with a hang over and all jacked up...good times though. lol

I agree fully, I was looking closely as they are awesome when blown up like that.....(I have been looking at either my iphone to view them or my ipad)
But I see alot more of what is wrong in the photo when i posted them up.

The funny thing was, its the same camera Rebel T3 just different lenses(maybe filters also) and settings (which I'm studying every day to keep away from above fault)
I think I have lost quality in some of the model shots as I ran them thru photo wizard on my ipad to bring the colors up a bit more, but after exporting they were only a tiny bit better.

I have a ton of stuff I bought off you, I will see what I can do!

Do you use Custom White balance, AWB or do you set it for each shot? The model shots are very warm and saturated, almost too much. Do you shoot RAW and tweak in post or go JPEG out of the camera? Composition is good.

The tourney shots look flat, colour wise. There are some great tutorials by Scott Kelby on sharpening and tweaking contrast to really make the images pop.

This is not a criticism, if you can go to a Scott Kelby or Kelby Training event near you, they teach you tonnes of cool tricks. I don't have my notes in front of me, but I learned many techniques from his Light it, Shoot it, Retouch it workshop. Even the book is worth picking up. haah sounds good

at that time it was AWB as it was really sunny so was hoping for
the camera to take over for that, then ran it thru photo wizard on my ipad and tried auto color, thats what made it look warm in color
I shoot JPEG as I do not have a intensive photo editing program
just whats on my ipad and iphone (will be getting one soon)

I really need to learn alot more on Post.

Using a consistent white balance will help you in post. AWB will constantly adjust making the color temp of each shot different. If you stick in on Daylight or shade or whatever, then the temp is fixed and if you have to correct later, one correction will work for all the photos shot with that setting.

Post is a whole new level, but starting out without it will solidify your technique and style. Same with lighting. Having a good foundation in natural light makes a difference when you start using flash.

I am a Lightroom/Photoshop guy but I still try and get it the best I can in-camera. RAW is also a different world that will make a big difference.

I am going to be shooting paintball for the first time this weekend. Pretty stoked.

Its fun as hell.
I find that now that I am a bit more versed in photo I'm running around the side lines trying to get behind the player taking a shot or shooting

I'm gonna try Raw, at one point
after I get photo shop and lightroom (my trail ran out :P )

Ya for WB, I switch it up during games and stuff but didnt for that shoot.

Post I need to read up alot more on, only thing is that I am a big visual learner so I can read all I want but until i see an example then I know what to look for

Alot of reading in the last lil while, and alot more to come!
I cant wait until im 100% comfortable in photography!
