Guitarist Fnh Scar-l

Well folks, I had a beautiful oppurtunity today,

I work at a PB field (other places as well, but I'm not getting into that)
which has a real-steel part that sells guns, pistols, and stuff like that. Well, my boss is a FNAddict (meaning a major dealer for FNH) we have alot of toys here, PS90's, FN200, FNAR, the fiveseveN, etc etc. well, on Fri, we got the first Shipment of the long sought after SCAR-L AKA Mk 16 Mod 0 civilian version. and I must say, FNH has defiantly out done them selfs. with the help of Major names in the SOCOM circle, the design, feel, and sheer power it commands, is mind blowing.

the sliding stock is a 6 position, very smooth movement, very clean. it feels real nice when in the shooting position, and seems as if there would be little to no recoil at all.

the folding part was pretty awesome, could get in nice and tight with it. a bit on the difficult to open/close, but then again i was trying to be delicate with it, seeing as it's worth ~ $2'500.

the adjustable cheek weld was nice, smooth transition between levels. not something an average shooter would notice, but if one is an avid shooter and can feel their weapon, it is very important.

on to the grip, standard AR15, M16, M4 style grip, not much special about it.

the selector switch is nothing like the AR15 style, it is at smaller degrees of change, like 45 or so, rather than 90. so if one wanted to switch between firing modes while aiming down the sights, it wouldn't be any big task.

the magazine release was in fact ambidextrous (on both sides) seemingly very durable, the standard mag just falls out, allowing faster mag changes but without the possibility of the magazine accidentally falling out.

the magazine was a standard USGI magazine with a Tan finish on the part viewable below where the mag well would cover. as if the whole lower was spray painted with the magazine in it.

has a standard monolithic rail the length of the upper receiver, allowing a many number of optics to be used.

custom FNH flip up sights were used, the front one can be adjusted for the individual barrel, while the rear one would stay the same. this would allow the weapon to be zeroed in after a barrel change.

the charging handle was semi-ambi. whereas you had to unscrew the charging bolt from one side and screw it onto the other side for use on that side. so not entirely ambi, but more than the AR15.

the bolt catch was only on the left side (for right handed users) so the weapon system isn't totally Ambi. when the bolt is in the rearward position, the charging handle is, seeing as the charging handle is attached to the bolt. this i don't think would be the best idea, seeing as if your hand got in the way as the bolt was coming forward, the charging handle might hit your hand, witch could be a pain in the arse.

other features:
16" barrel with a snaggle tooth muzzle break
4 rails on all sides of the fore grip
a very smooth trigger pull, very light
gas piston
this in particular SCAR has a VERY low serial # (low double digits)

The FN Hertsal SOCOM Combat Assault Rilfe - Light Mk. 16 Mod 0 a very fine weapon indeed...

I'm of the same mind. I LOVE this rifle, but I just do not like the SCAR stock.

Re: Fnh Scar-l

yep. well this is defiantly a love rifle. example, our store ordered 7 of them. we sold 8 of them 5 weeks before they were delivered. no my math isn't THAT bad, it's just showing how bad people want this rifle.

T, you know you want one. you know your wife wants that new car. compromise! lol

Re: Fnh Scar-l

@ eternal- from the discussions I've seen on the HK forums, there will be no Mr223 or Mr308 dude to economic issues. then again, there mostly rumors.

@NeverForget- Yes, it's alot better than the SCAR, wider variety of acceptable rounds, i.e. 5.56, 6.5, 6.8, 7.62x39, .308, .45, 9mm, .22 etc. has a much more flowing design than the SCAR, a better barrel system than said SCAR, more Ergonomic and a lower profile, 100% true Ambi design. alot more hidyholes than the SCAR etc.
just a overall better weapon system than the SCAR, but prolly wont be released untill late 2009 to early 2010, seeing as they had alot of delays with the switchover to bushmaster and all.
